City introduction
Vaughan is a lower-tier city in the Regional Municipality of York. A residential property tax bill in Vaughan is divided three ways — the City of Vaughan, York Region, and the Province of Ontario for education — and the City's share (28 cents of each property tax dollar in 2024) funds services such as garbage collection, snow clearing, fire and emergency services and recreation programs.

CEER for 2026 is No data because the year is incomplete.
Housing property-tax historical trend
The trend uses one measure only: the Council-adopted increase in the City of Vaughan's own (municipal) portion of the property tax. Each row is the figure for that year on that one measure. A year with no verified figure on that measure is shown as No data.

Separate note — tax rates, not the trend
This note is separate from the trend above and is not part of it. A residential tax rate per $1,000 of assessed value can move even when the levy increase is small, because the assessment base changes. Rate figures are therefore not used as the trend and are not mixed into the increase chart.
The City publishes final tax rates as percentages of assessed value. Converted at rate × 10, the 2024 residential rates are:
| Year | City of Vaughan | York Region | Education | Total | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $1.99 per $1,000 | $3.62 per $1,000 | $1.53 per $1,000 | $7.14 per $1,000 | City of Vaughan, 2024 Final Tax Rates (published rates: City 0.198953%, York Region 0.361852%, Education 0.153000%, Total 0.713805%), https://www.vaughan.ca/sites/default/files/2024-06/2024%20Final%20Tax%20Rates.pdf?file-verison=1765335380604 |
Only the 2024 rate schedule is recorded here; the Region and education columns are shown for bill composition only and are not part of this page's increase calibre.
Method
This trend uses one metric only, every year: the Council-adopted increase in the City of Vaughan's own (municipal) portion of the property tax.
Where a city publishes an increase as components, the components are recorded in the scope notes; a total is used only where the city itself publishes it.
Canada inflation is Statistics Canada, Table 18-10-0005-01, CPI annual average. Canadian dollar Real CEER is Bank of Canada, Valet series CEER_BROADM, total index (1999=100); each value is the annual average of the 12 monthly total Real CEER values (a computed annual average, not a figure the Bank publishes directly as an annual value).
How to read this page
Bars are the Vaughan municipal portion property tax increase. Lines are Canada inflation and Canadian dollar Real CEER.
The left axis is a percentage axis shared by the bars and the inflation line. The right axis is a separate index axis for Canadian dollar Real CEER only. CEER is an index and is not a percentage.
A year shown as “No data” has no bar for property tax and no line point for that series, and a missing year breaks a line. A verified 0% increase sits at the zero line and is marked “0% (verified)”.
Tax rates per $1,000 are separate from the trend and are not charted.
