Vancouver's November 4, 2026 tax sale saw a house assessed at more than $1.7 million sell for $825,000. The former owner has one year to redeem it, at 6% interest.
Vancouver's annual tax sale took place on November 4, 2026. The city lists properties with three years of unpaid property taxes for auction each year; of the 116 properties listed this year, 66 remained listed on the day of the sale. One house assessed at more than $1.7 million, with an upset price of $72,051, sold for $825,000. Details are on the City of Vancouver tax sale page and in Canadian Press reporting carried by Canadian Mortgage Trends.
What happens next
A tax sale is not the end of the matter for the former owner. The owner has one year to redeem the property; a redeeming owner must refund the successful bidder the purchase price plus 6% interest. For bidders, that redemption window is part of the risk: a winning bid can still be unwound within the year.
